Mold Damage – Affton Residence
Severe mold damage in the basement of this Affton home required that the interior fixtures and finishes be removed to remediate mold from the wood and concrete block structure. The mold was concealed within the finished walls and may have been active and growing for several years. The foundation walls were not properly sealed before construction, which allowed moisture to seep through. The damp conditions provided a suitable environment for mold growth. It was not until SERVPRO of Oakville/Mehlville was called to a water damage after a storm that flooded the basement, which the mold was discovered. To help reduce the likelihood of re-growth, the soil around the basement had to be excavated and the walls properly sealed inside and out before the reconstruction could begin.
